Riots break out in Vancouver after headliner Lil Baby fails to appear at a music festival: VIDEO

After the headliner for Breakout Festival failed to appear, chaos ensued in Vancouver on Sunday night. Lil Baby was slated to finish out the weekend-long concert at the PNE Amphitheatre, but canceled just before going on stage.

Attendees then engaged in violence and vandalism. According to Vancouver Police, seven people were arrested for disturbing the peace. “I’d like to begin by stating that I really apologize to Vancouver Canada, the Breakout Festival, and everyone who was in attendance!” the American rapper wrote on his Instagram story Monday morning.

“I’ve been working so hard for so long without taking any breaks that it eventually caught up with me and my body shut down.” I owe you a lot and will certainly make amends shortly.”

However, the apologies arrived hours too late. Crowd rioting footage taken on Snapchat’s map feature was shared on Twitter and Instagram. As the audience cheers, angry supporters are seen tossing garbage bins and toppling festival tents.

Other footage show people vandalizing and looting concession stands.

“I love it when I have to wait two hours and Lil Baby doesn’t turn up,” a festivalgoer (who wasn’t rioting) says in one of the videos.

Some footage captures the moment the crowd realized Lil Baby was not going to appear, with some chanting “refund” at the empty stage. As the audience boos, another clip shows someone on stage encouraging concertgoers to contact Breakout Festival for additional information.

The Instagram account @6ixaktv released what appear to be videos of Lil Baby exiting the event before his set, draped in a white towel. More footage of irate fans destroying drink machines and yelling “f**k Breakout” as they tear down festival tents was also released to the account.

The PNE made a statement on the incident on Monday, September 19, and apologized to its neighbors for the impact the attendees’ behavior had on the community. Music festival organizers were yet to respond as of Monday morning. Breakout Festival has been contacted by Daily Hive for additional information.
