India used its brute state apparatus to brutalise Muslims: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the Indian government for its ongoing brutality and state oppression of Indian Muslims after they protested BJP leaders’ blasphemous remarks about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The prime minister said on Twitter on Monday, “India has unleashed its brute & oppressive state apparatus to browbeat Indian Muslims into submission.”
He stated that India was planning to “further marginalise” Indian Muslims on political, economic, and cultural grounds, but the face of New Delhi’s so-called “democracy” was exposed to the world.
Pakistan Condemns India’s Heinous Treatment of Muslim Protesters. Before the prime minister, the Foreign Office strongly condemned the Indian authorities’ harsh treatment of Muslims who were staging a peaceful protest after Friday prayers in response to derogatory remarks made by two members of the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
In a press release issued on Sunday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson stated that the footage of Indian forces openly firing on protestors in Ranchi city was “horrible beyond belief.” So far, 227 people have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh alone. The message to avoid large gatherings was extended after last week’s demonstrations turned violent, killing two Muslim teenagers and injuring more than 30 people, including police officers. “It is the duty of every Muslim to stand together when anyone disparages Islam, but it is also critical to maintaining peace,” said Malik Aslam, a senior member of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, a Muslim organisation active in several Indian states.
